Lakes in Donegal Mountains producing brown trout on the fly

With the recent spell of good weather some of our team members went adventuring through the wild rough mountains of Co Donegal. Weather conditions were near perfect and the recent rise in temperature ensured that there was plenty of insect life posing as a meal for our wild brownies.

Trout up a pound in weight were caught on surface dry flies mainly on spider like patterns. Larger lures such as in line spinners and Rapala style 4.5cm divers also went out in search of larger trout but never produced. Maybe more joy as the year goes on giving the fish to grow larger and braver.
